WHV | Chapter 10

After Yu Wei decided to stay, he kept sending messages to Qiu Lei now and then to ask about Yu Song’s situation at school.
Yu Song hadn’t gone looking for trouble lately, but he held grudges. He lived under the same roof as Shi Ciyan and Lin Yuchi. Aside from the day they registered, he hadn’t said a single word to them, treating them like air in the dorm.
It had been less than a month since school started, and they still had five months left living together. Yu Wei felt it was necessary to ease the relationship between them.
Saturday happened to be free, so he could take them out for a meal and improve their diet a little.
A few days ago, the private kitchen restaurant he’d met with Lin Hao at had been good, and the environment was nice too. That day, even being watched by Lin Zerui hadn’t affected his appetite. He’d been thinking about their food ever since, so after some thought Yu Wei decided to take them there.
He set the location and told Yu Song to bring his roommates over. Yu Song was quite unhappy about the invitation, but Yu Wei told him he had to bring the people over and invite them in reluctant terms.
If he didn’t invite them, his older brother would blame him. If the three of them didn’t want to go, that wasn’t on him.
After getting ready, before he left, he asked casually, “My brother’s treating us to a meal. Are you guys going? It’s fine if you don’t.”
If they had any shame and could tell he wasn’t sincerely trying to invite them, then they wouldn’t shamelessly come along. Besides, they’d already been at odds from the start, and since school began there had been almost no communication between them.
Yu Song stood by the door, ready to leave at any moment. If any one of them said no, he’d shut the door and go.
“I’m going.”
“Don’t go then…?” Yu Song had only gotten halfway through before he suddenly shoved the half-closed door open and shot Shi Ciyan a hostile look. “You want to go?”
“I’m going too.” Lin Yuchi stood up and met Yu Song’s murderous glare with a slight smile. “We’re not doing anything in the dorm anyway. Since you invited us so sincerely, of course we should go.”
“I’m done getting ready, we’re leaving now. Are you coming or not?” Aside from Qiu Lei, he didn’t want to bring these two Alphas.
“We’re ready too. Let’s go.”
Yu Song: “…”
By the time they arrived at the restaurant, Yu Wei had already been waiting in the private room for quite a while. Seeing Yu Wei, Yu Song’s expression eased a little, but he was still unhappy with Shi Ciyan and Lin Yuchi.
Ever since Yu Wei had differentiated into an Omega, he had treated every Alpha as an enemy and couldn’t let them get anywhere near Yu Wei.
Not to mention Lin Yuchi’s dirty mouth when it came to insulting his brother, and Shi Ciyan’s filthy thoughts, fantasizing about his brother even during his heat.
Yu Song shot the two Alphas a hateful glare, then sat down on Yu Wei’s right. He didn’t want to sit next to Shi Ciyan or Lin Yuchi, but he also didn’t want them sitting next to Yu Wei. After a brief internal struggle, he didn’t say a word and pressed Qiu Lei down on Yu Wei’s left side.
Compared with sitting next to them himself, he’d rather not let his brother sit next to those stinking Alphas.
With Yu Wei at the center, Yu Song and Shi Ciyan sat on his right, while Qiu Lei and Lin Yuchi sat on his left.
Yu Wei’s original intention was to smooth things over between Yu Song and the other two. But now that he looked at him, Yu Song looked like a pufferfish, cheeks puffed up with anger, and the words unhappy were practically written across his face. Still, that actually made him look a little cute. People like Yu Song, with every emotion written plainly on their face, had no schemes. They were easy to fool.
And easy to coax.
But before the meal, Yu Wei didn’t want to bring up anything else and ruin anyone’s mood, so he said nothing about getting along well. Instead, he chatted with them about funny things that had happened at school. Halfway through, he suddenly remembered the action figure. “How’s your figure doing?”
The mention of it made Yu Song even angrier. “He’s a broke bastard. Even if he sold everything he owns, he still couldn’t afford to pay for my figure.”
Yu Wei: “…” He shouldn’t have brought it up. Now it was ruining his mood too, and he was about to lose his appetite.
He had never even seen 530,000 yuan in his previous life. Even now, with countless 530,000 yuan in his bank card, Yu Wei still felt heartache.
“Forget it then, don’t make things difficult for him.” Yu Wei winced at the pain.
“How can it just be forgotten? That was the figure you gave me. I’m definitely making him pay.”
“I think so too. He broke the figure, so of course he has to compensate. If he has no money, then he can just go earn it.” Lin Yuchi suddenly chimed in, resting his chin on his hand.
Yu Wei waved it off. “Up to you.”
As long as Yu Song didn’t take the initiative to provoke the protagonist, Yu Wei didn’t want to care about anything else either.
By then, the dishes were being brought in one after another. The entire table was full of what Yu Wei had ordered. He’d picked everything, both the dishes he’d eaten before and the ones he hadn’t, and once the food was served, Yu Wei couldn’t wait to dig in.
“This place tastes amazing. Hurry and try it.”
Yu Wei enthusiastically recommended the dishes. After receiving their approval, he smiled in satisfaction. “You have class from Monday to Friday, so next week I’ll treat you again.”
Lin Yuchi and Shi Ciyan both nodded and said okay, while Yu Song’s just-softened expression darkened by two shades again. “We’re coming again?”
Usually they were in class at school, and Yu Wei had to work. He really couldn’t think of a better way to build goodwill. Taking them out for a meal every week, or going out to play somewhere, spending more time together would naturally make them feel a little more favorably toward him. By the ending, they might even show some mercy for the sake of the meals they’d shared.
“I probably can’t come next week.” Suddenly, Qiu Lei, who had been quietly eating the whole time, spoke up. “I have to go home next week and accompany my wife to her prenatal checkup.”
“Cough, cough, cough…” Yu Wei was in the middle of eating when he heard the words wife and pregnant. He coughed so hard it felt like he was about to cough out a lung. “Wait, you… how old are you?”
Freshmen were all eighteen or nineteen, and even if someone had repeated a year, at most they’d be twenty. How had he already ended up with a wife and child?
Yu Wei wasn’t the only one shocked. Yu Song beside him stared with his mouth open for a long time before reacting.
“Damn, you really hid it well. You already have a kid?” Yu Song had gotten along a little with Qiu Lei in the dorm since school started, and they could talk. But Qiu Lei had never mentioned having a wife and child. “No wonder you only run home whenever you have fewer classes. So you were hiding a beauty in a golden house.”
“We’re not married yet.” Qiu Lei looked shy. “We only found out last week that she was pregnant. We’re planning to get engaged in a little while.”
“He’s an Omega.”
Yu Song: “No wonder.”
Beta fertility was difficult, but Omegas had strong reproductive abilities. A Beta and Omega pairing made it easier to have children than two Betas.
Yu Wei didn’t understand the last sentence, but the other three clearly did, and even Shi Ciyan, who hadn’t seemed interested in their conversation at all, looked up. “You’re not together yet?”
Qiu Lei immediately looked a little depressed. “No. He only acknowledged me after he got pregnant.”
So this was first pregnant, then love? No, first pregnant, then married, then in love?
Shi Ciyan nodded thoughtfully and glanced at Yu Wei’s belly.
This, too, was a kind of solution.
After a while, Yu Song asked again, “Got a photo?”
Qiu Lei held up his lock screen, and Yu Wei casually glanced at it. “Why does he look like a ma…”
The person on the lock screen had delicate features, but his hair was very short. His bangs had been clipped to one side with a pink butterfly bow hairpin, and no matter how Yu Wei looked at it, something felt off.
So after looking at the photo, he reflexively asked why he looked like a ma…, then realized that saying that wasn’t very polite and forcibly swallowed the words looked like a man back down.
Telling someone to their face that their wife looked like a man, Yu Wei felt like he might get beaten up.
Thankfully, he hadn’t spoken very loudly. The others were either eating or looking at the photo, and nobody noticed the half-finished sentence at all.
Short-haired girl, short-haired girl.
Yu Wei silently repeated it to himself twice, reminding himself, but even after that the photo still looked like a man.
At least men couldn’t get pregnant. Otherwise, he would really have thought the other person was a boy.
Yu Wei ate this meal distractedly, feeling more and more that something was off. But he couldn’t say exactly what was wrong. Everywhere around him gave off a sense of incongruity.
Today he had given Wang Youguang the day off and driven himself here. After the meal, Yu Wei called a car for the four of them and watched the taxi disappear from view. Then he turned and walked toward the parking area. The private kitchen restaurant had a separate parking lot, and when Yu Wei walked over, the only sound in the lot was his own footsteps.
He walked up to the car and reached for the door handle. A hand伸出来 from behind and pressed down gently, and the door he had just pulled open was shut again.
He turned around. Behind him stood two tall, sturdy men. Their expressions were blank. “Young Master Lin invited you for a drink.”
They said “invited,” but each of them looked fierce and murderous, with no expression on their faces. Before Yu Wei could refuse, the two of them held him and shoved him into the back seat of the car parked beside them.
There was already someone in the driver’s seat. As soon as they got in, the car didn’t stop and drove straight out of the parking lot.
It didn’t look like a kidnapping.
It didn’t not look like a kidnapping either.
“Where are you taking me?” Yu Wei would be lying if he said he wasn’t scared. In his previous life, he’d been a poor bastard, and he’d often seen dramas where people kidnapped rich folks for money.
He was rich now. If he really was being kidnapped, maybe he could actually make a profit.
“Young Master Lin asked us to bring you here.”
Yu Wei glanced at the two men tightly flanking him on either side, then said speechlessly, “Do you guys have some kind of misunderstanding about the word ‘invite’?”
What kind of decent person invited someone like this, in a kidnapping pose?
Yu Wei added, “Afraid I’ll jump out of the car?”
This time they didn’t answer. At a glance, that meant they’d tacitly admitted it.
“Then you’re worrying too much. The way you’re driving is like you’re racing to be reincarnated. How would I dare jump?”
The car was going very fast. If not for the city roads, Yu Wei felt like they might actually be driving so fast they’d take off.
The car finally stopped in front of a bar. Only then did Yu Wei fully believe that he really might have been ‘invited’ by Lin Zerui.
Aside from Lin Zerui, Yu Wei couldn’t think of anyone else who would go to a bar in broad daylight to have fun.
Or maybe Lin Zerui simply treated the bar like home.
