    Relief.

    Ye Zhi exhaled slowly.

She had finally done what she’d been wanting to do all along, and now she felt completely refreshed.

Her anger earlier wasn’t only because Ye qinya was hopelessly clueless—it was also because she had already realized something important.

The entire incident had been a trap set by Ou Minghan from the very beginning.

In the original plot, Ou Minghan knew Ye qinya’s schedule in advance. He deliberately had Zhang Danni crash into the car. Afterward, he took the initiative to offer to handle the repairs, winning custody of the vehicle.

Once the car was in his hands, he had people tamper with it, ultimately leading to the tragic car accident involving Ye Yongxian.

And by now, that car had most likely already been handed over to Ou Minghan.

Ye Zhi looked toward Ye qinya.

Ye qinya, however, had been slapped so hard she staggered back several steps, still dazed. Her eyes filled with tears, making her look pitiful as she murmured,

    “Big sister… why would you—”

Before she could finish, a car suddenly sped past the exact spot where she had just been standing.

    Ye qinya froze.

Then her expression shifted, as if everything suddenly made sense. She looked at Ye Zhi with gratitude.

“Sister… so you were saving me.”

“Oh, right, right,” Ye Zhi nodded immediately, then added with perfect sincerity, “I originally wanted to push your shoulder, but you suddenly turned your head and kind of… put your face in the way. Qinya, are you okay? Does your face hurt?”

Ye qinya forced a smile. “I’m… fine.”

“What kind of driver is that?!” Ye Yongxian’s face darkened. “Driving that fast in a parking lot—are they insane?”

“They should be reported!” Ye Yuzhe said angrily. “There are cameras at the airport. They won’t get away with it!”

“Forget it,” Ye qinya quickly said. “It was just an accident. They probably didn’t mean it. I’m fine, so let’s not pursue it. Let’s just go home.”

The fire in Ye Zhi’s chest flared up again.

Now she was certain—Ye qinya was a genuine, full-blown saint-type doormat.

And the worst part was, her “kindness” wasn’t harmless.

She wasn’t sacrificing herself alone—she was dragging everyone around her down with her, protecting the people who hurt her while forcing the ones who cared about her to endure the consequences.

No wonder in the original story, every kind friend who helped her ended up miserable, while the so-called “villains” who opposed her thrived.

Because Ye qinya would always choose to shield the wicked, forgive harm, and pressure her own allies into surrendering in the name of “peace.”

“Second sister, why are you always letting yourself be bullied?! Big sister, say something to her!” Ye Yuzhe complained.

“Alright, Yuzhe,” Ye Zhi said with a strained smile. “Qinya is the one involved. If she doesn’t mind, we pushing further will only upset her. Let’s go home first.”

Ye Yuzhe muttered under his breath but eventually got into the car reluctantly.

Ye qinya looked at Ye Zhi with emotion. “Big sister… you’re really so kind.”

    Ye Zhi immediately got goosebumps.

Being called “kind” by someone like this felt more like an insult.

“Let’s get in the car,” she said, forcing a smile.

    The family returned home together.

Along the way, Ye Yongxian and Liu Lingyu continued lecturing Ye qinya, telling her she was too soft-hearted and needed to stand up for herself.

As for Ye Zhi, she had already silently memorized the license plate of the car from earlier and sent a text message reporting it to the police. With airport surveillance available, it would not be difficult to trace the incident.

After sending it, she leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes, pretending to rest.

She was still adjusting to this world.

Although she now possessed fragmented memories of being part of the Ye family, they felt distant and unfamiliar. Acting overly intimate with these “new” parents felt unnatural, though fortunately they didn’t seem to notice.

They only assumed she was distant because they had been separated for too long.

With her eyes closed, Ye Zhi’s thoughts remained razor-sharp.

After meeting the Ye family in person, she had made her decision.

She would save the Ye family—and prevent everything that was about to happen.

Of course, she would also be saving herself.

Ou Minghan targeted the Ye family because, in his past, his mother had jumped to her death and his father died in a car accident. He believed the Ye family was responsible for his suffering.

    This was revenge.

Ye Zhi had skimmed the novel and didn’t know the full truth behind those events. But she was certain of one thing:

Ou Minghan was not the type to spare anyone.

He didn’t even hesitate to target Liu Lingyu, who was essentially an outsider, or Ye Yuzhe, who was still a minor.

So a suddenly appeared “eldest daughter” like her?

Even if she told him she was just a transmigrator, he would never let her go.

    There was no retreat.

She would have to stand against him—and it would be a fight to the end.

As for the Ye family, she would protect them.

    And as for Ye qinya…

Ye Zhi had once considered whether to help her.

But after seeing her in person, she had only one conclusion:

Let go of the savior complex and respect other people’s fate.

Just let Ye qinya and Ou Minghan be locked together as their so-called “true love.”

That way, they wouldn’t have the chance to harm anyone else.

“We’re home!” Ye Yuzhe cheered, jumping out of the car first.

The group chatted and laughed as they entered the Ye residence.

Stepping into the grand villa, Ye Zhi couldn’t help but admire its luxury. Living here would have been nice—if not for the storm lurking underneath it all.

“Sir, madam, Mr. Ou has arrived,” a servant announced.

At that, Ye qinya immediately ran out joyfully to greet her boyfriend.

Watching her back, Ye Zhi’s gaze sharpened.

    So soon.

They were already meeting the male lead.

    The battle had officially begun.

The Ye family had not yet fallen apart, and Ou Minghan had not yet severed ties with them. At this stage, he and Ye qinya were still deeply in love—essentially a textbook “sweet romance” setup.

This was exactly how the original story lured readers in.

Only later would everything spiral into tragedy faster than Ye Zhi could react.

Soon, Ye qinya returned, linking arms with Ou Minghan.

She looked completely blissful, immersed in love.

Ou Minghan, however, appeared cold and detached. His gaze flickered with caution as he studied Ye Zhi.

This woman—Ye qinya’s suddenly appearing older sister—was an unknown variable. He needed to determine whether she would interfere with his plans.

As he observed her, Ye Zhi was also observing him.

    And honestly—she was disappointed.

First, while Ou Minghan was indeed good-looking, he was nowhere near the “devastatingly handsome, peerless beauty” described in the novel. That was clearly filtered through Ye qinya’s love-struck perception.

    Second…
