ON!IBESAFL | Chapter 1 – Give Her a Slap
by North_SkyYe Zhi gripped her phone tightly and sat up abruptly in bed, fury rising in her chest. Thunder and lightning roared outside, but they were nothing compared to the anger boiling within her.
She had only wanted a light, mindless sweet romance web novel to relax. So how did she end up choosing something that looked like a fluffy love story on the surface but was actually a full-blown abuse-and-tragedy novel underneath?
And that wasn’t even the worst part.
The female lead, Ye qinya, wasn’t just a hopeless romantic—she was also a white lotus saint. A level of “saintliness” so extreme it was practically blinding at a glance. With those two debuffs stacked together, it was easy to imagine how absurd her actions would become.
The male lead, Ou Minghan, first used schemes to bankrupt the Bai family. Then he orchestrated a car accident that left the female lead’s father paralyzed. Her mother, struggling to pay medical bills, took on multiple odd jobs—only to be tricked into working at his company, where she was humiliated daily and forced into degrading labor. As for her younger brother, he was deliberately led into drug addiction and left to suffer a living hell.
Ye qinya herself was imprisoned and humiliated by Ou Minghan. Whenever a scheming side character interfered, the male lead would take it out on her with violence—slaps were considered the “gentlest” treatment.
Yet this so-called saint of a female lead forgave them every single time. Even the man who destroyed her entire family, she stubbornly believed had a kind heart. She insisted that love could redeem him, that she could heal his hatred. Truly, no matter how many times the male lead hurt her, she still treated him like her first love.
Ye Zhi’s blood pressure skyrocketed reading it. In frustration, she skipped straight to the ending.
And the ending was even more ridiculous.
All of the female lead’s relatives had already been killed by the male lead. He knelt before her, begging for forgiveness. After experiencing a string of melodramatic tragedies—car crashes, cancer, and even a pregnancy plotline where she ran away with a child—the female lead concluded that since her family was already gone, there was no point continuing the cycle of hatred.
Besides, she believed she and the male lead truly loved each other. Even if her family were still alive, they would surely bless her. Her “punishment” for him was simply that he must love her forever.
And just like that, she accepted him, and they lived happily ever after.
Ye Zhi’s emotional state could only be described as utter chaos. If the female lead had been in front of her, she would have wanted to punch her—though she was worried the girl might somehow enjoy it.
“What the hell kind of garbage plot is this?! What an idiot female lead! I’m so pissed off!” Ye Zhi cursed out loud. “If she were my family, I’d teach her exactly what proper parenting looks like!”
A flash of white light split the air. Thunder roared again, shaking the sky.
…
When Ye Zhi opened her eyes again, she stared blankly at the unfamiliar surroundings, her mind suddenly flooded with memories.
She had been struck by lightning—and transmigrated.
And worse, she had become the suddenly appearing older sister of Ye qinya.
In this world’s original memory, she had been sent abroad during high school and only just returned home.
Ye Zhi was completely stunned.
She had only been venting. She hadn’t actually meant to become part of the story. What kind of cosmic punishment was this?
On top of that, aside from the hopeless romantic female lead, there was also a ruthless male lead targeting the Ye family. That man was vicious, calculating, and utterly dangerous. Now that she was tied to the Ye family, there was no way he would let her go.
And right now, she was literally on the plane returning to the country.
The plane had just landed. Her family was already waiting at the airport. There was no way to turn back now.
While Ye Zhi was still processing everything, a well-groomed flight attendant approached with a polite smile.
“Miss, we have safely landed at Daxing Airport. You may disembark now. Is there anything else I can assist you with?”
“No, thank you.” Ye Zhi forced a polite smile, stood up, grabbed her small suitcase, and walked off the plane.
At the airport arrivals hall, she immediately spotted the Ye family.
Standing in the center were her parents, Ye Yongxian and Liu Lingyu. Ye Yongxian looked energetic and well, while Liu Lingyu appeared elegantly maintained, her skin smooth and youthful. Neither looked like they were in their fifties.
On their right stood the youngest son, Ye Yuzhe, seventeen years old and currently in high school. He wore trendy clothes and looked rebellious yet energetic, stealing curious glances at Ye Zhi.
Thinking about how all of them would eventually be ruined by the male lead, Ye Zhi felt the urge to curse someone out loud.
Then she shifted her gaze to the left.
There stood her younger sister—one year younger than her—the so-called saintly, Mary-Sue, hopelessly romantic female lead, Ye qinya.
She wore a white dress, standing softly and gracefully with a gentle smile on her face.
Ye Zhi raised a brow.
She didn’t look brainless at all.
Without thinking further, she walked toward them.
“Dad, Mom, Qinya, Yuzhe—I’m back,” she greeted with a smile.
“You’re back, you’re back!” her parents said happily, pulling her into a hug. Ye Yongxian took her suitcase and handed it to Ye Yuzhe.
Ye Yuzhe pouted unhappily but still accepted it under his father’s glare.
After a brief exchange of greetings, Ye Yuzhe’s attitude toward her softened. Ye Zhi also observed Ye qinya more carefully. At the very least, her sister looked normal—so how could she possibly do all those absurd things in the story?
“Alright, let’s go home,” Ye Yongxian said cheerfully, leading them to the parking lot.
They arrived at a black Maybach business car. The driver quickly opened the trunk and placed the luggage inside.
Ye Zhi frowned. “Dad, what happened to your favorite Toyota business van?”
Before Ye Yuzhe could answer, he immediately spoke up angrily.
“Sis, you don’t know how ridiculous it was! Last time Second Sister was in the car, Zhang Danni crashed into us and completely wrecked it. She almost got injured! The car’s in the shop now. What’s worse is that Zhang Danni refuses to pay, and Second Sister won’t even pursue it—”
“Yuzhe, stop talking like that,” Ye qinya quickly interrupted. “Qinya didn’t do it on purpose. She just wasn’t used to driving yet. It was an accident. If we hold her accountable, it wouldn’t look good for her. Besides, we have insurance, and our family is wealthy anyway. Why make her pay?”
Ye Zhi sucked in a sharp breath.
At that moment, Ye qinya seemed to radiate a literal halo of saintliness, so blinding it was almost painful to look at.
She couldn’t take it anymore.
Raising her hand without hesitation, she delivered a clean, decisive slap across Ye qinya’s face.
