ON!IBESAFL | Chapter 10 – She Becomes the “Villain”
by North_SkyLayer upon layer of calculated schemes had pushed the Ye Corporation into public controversy, marking the true beginning of the Ye family’s tragedy.
So if she wanted to save them, she had to stop this cooperation.
“The development project itself isn’t the problem,” Ye Zhi said, frowning. “The problem is the partner. Dad, we’re a real estate company—why are we collaborating with an internet company at all?”
“Oh, that?” Ye Yongxian chuckled. “Fengle Residence is a joint project between Ye Corporation and Minghan’s company. He’s interested in real estate, but he’s only investing—he won’t interfere with operations. He just wants to learn from me. Your sister asked me to take him under my wing, so I couldn’t really refuse…”
Ye Zhi felt a wave of speechless irritation.
Not interfere?
He was just waiting for things to go wrong so he could cleanly detach himself.
In the end, this so-called “cooperation” was nothing more than her father indulging his second daughter.
Business-wise, Ye Yongxian was capable. But when it came to his children, he was far too indulgent.
“Dad,” Ye Zhi said firmly, “please cancel this cooperation.”
“Why?” Ye Yongxian looked at her in confusion. “Xiao Zhi, even if we cancel it, there has to be a proper reason. You can’t make it look like you’re deliberately targeting Minghan.”
She was deliberately targeting him.
Of course, she couldn’t say that out loud.
Her phone suddenly buzzed.
She glanced at it—and the corners of her lips lifted slightly.
“Dad, look at this,” she said, handing him the phone.
Ye Yongxian took it and skimmed through the contents. His expression gradually darkened.
It was the inspection report for his Toyota business van.
Yesterday, after the car had been returned by Ou Minghan, Ye Zhi had immediately sent it for inspection. And just now, the results had arrived.
“Dad, the report is very clear. Someone tampered with the brakes on your car,” Ye Zhi said seriously. “That’s your favorite vehicle—you use it almost every time you go out. You don’t need me to explain how serious this could have been.”
Ye Yongxian placed the phone down, his expression grave.
“Xiao Zhi… do you suspect Minghan did this?”
“I don’t accuse anyone without evidence,” Ye Zhi said carefully, her eyes flickering. “But what I do know is that someone used this car to target the Ye family. Right now, we’re in the open, and the enemy is hidden—we don’t even know who we’re dealing with.”
Ye Yongxian fell silent.
He was a doting father, but not a foolish one.
If someone had tampered with his car, it meant one thing—they were targeting the Ye family.
If it was Ou Minghan, then he had likely approached Ye Qinya from the beginning with ulterior motives.
And even if it wasn’t him, it still meant someone was hiding in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity. It also meant Ou Minghan himself had been careless—or indifferent enough—to allow such an opportunity.
Either way, it confirmed one thing: he could not fully trust this man.
“Still,” Ye Yongxian said slowly, “canceling the cooperation abruptly would be inappropriate. Xiao Zhi, do you have a better idea?”
Seeing that her father had already become wary, Ye Zhi smiled faintly.
“So you’re testing me now?”
“Haha, yes,” he admitted with a laugh. Then his tone softened. “Your sister is too innocent, and your brother is still young. The only one who can truly help me now is you. I want you to grow quickly. In situations like this, how would you handle it without damaging the company’s reputation?”
This was something she had already considered.
“Simple,” Ye Zhi said calmly. “Since you’re such a loving father who cares about his daughter’s boyfriend, how could you possibly take advantage of him?”
“If he wants to enter real estate, then we help him all the way.”
“Find him another development project. Let him take full responsibility—from investment to construction. Ye Corporation will only provide technical support free of charge.”
“Wouldn’t that allow him to learn even more?”
Ye Yongxian nodded approvingly.
This was indeed a good move.
It wasn’t a public fallout or a cancellation—it was a graceful step back that effectively pushed Ou Minghan out of the Ye Corporation’s core project.
If he truly wanted to enter real estate, then he should handle a project independently.
And Ye Corporation’s “technical support” came at no cost and carried no responsibility.
If he refused, it would prove he wasn’t truly interested in real estate at all—and the Fengle Residence project would have no reason to continue.
“Do it your way,” Ye Yongxian said with satisfaction. “Xiao Zhi, you’ve really grown up. Looks like letting you study abroad all those years was the right decision.”
Ye Zhi smiled lightly. “Dad, then give me the Fengle Residence project. Let me handle it as practice.”
“Alright,” he agreed readily. “It’s yours. Do it well.”
Only then did she quietly exhale in relief.
Even though she had successfully pushed Ou Minghan out of the project, she knew he would not give up so easily.
He would definitely try other methods.
So taking control of the project herself would make it easier to guard against his next move.
After all—she had read the script.
“Oh right, Dad,” she added casually. “Let’s keep the brake issue from the car under wraps for now. If news reaches Minghan and he thinks we suspect him, it might affect his relationship with Qinya.”
Ye Yongxian looked at her amusedly.
“You little girl, praising you a bit and you’re already telling your father what to do?”
Then he sighed.
“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”
But after a pause, he frowned again.
“Still… we should find a way to break them up sooner or later.”
“Dad,” Ye Zhi said calmly, “they’re still in the honeymoon phase. Qinya is deeply infatuated right now. If we act too directly, it will backfire.”
“We should wait. Let her realize what kind of person he really is on her own.”
“That’s the only option, then,” Ye Yongxian agreed.
Then he suddenly looked at her with bright eyes.
“Xiao Zhi… since you’re so smart, do you have any good ideas for how to break them apart?”
