“Tongyangfu?”

“Yes. Dr. Xu, I didn’t expect your family to be so traditional too. They even found you a tongyangfu[[1]]. Then what about your boyfriend?” The little nurse was a baby-faced girl. She usually loved gossiping in the office.

She had been a little surprised. That man with such striking features was actually a tongyangfu[[1]]. He didn’t really look like one, but appearances could be deceiving. She even thought it was a pity that she hadn’t gotten his contact information.

“I don’t have a tongyangfu[[1]].” Xu Linruan glanced at her thoughtfully, her dark eyes clear and calm. “What did he look like?”

“Handsome. But, Dr. Xu, don’t make things too hard on yourself. It’s a whole new era now. The older generation’s thinking doesn’t work anymore. You and your boyfriend are free to date…”

The nurse girl hadn’t finished before she was cut off. Xu Linruan put on her coat and clipped her name badge to her chest. “We’re not dating. Didn’t I already tell you? I don’t have a tongyangfu[[1]], and I’m not dating Xu Zhou either, so please don’t spread rumors anymore, okay?”

Xu Linruan gave her a slight smile. A few strands of her jet-black hair slid to her cheek, and the little nurse was struck speechless by her beauty. She stammered out an “Mm-hmm,” then went back to work sheepishly.

Since she hadn’t asked the tongyangfu[[1]]’s name, Xu Linruan didn’t think much of it either. She treated the whole thing as a boring prank and quickly put it behind her, focusing on work.

She had been busy lately, and when she got off work it was usually late, so she didn’t have much energy to think about anything else for the time being.

After driving home, Xu Linruan went straight upstairs.

With a click, the key turned in the lock.

She pushed the door open. The living room was pitch-dark, and just as she was about to switch on the light, a cool hand pressed down on her fingers and then closed around them.

Xu Linruan reacted quickly, snatching up the handbag in her hand and throwing it over, but the other person yanked hard, and she crashed straight into a warm chest.

Her nose hit him a little painfully. “You…”

She could hear the other person’s breathing, suppressed and excited, and for some reason it felt extremely perverted.

Xu Linruan had pretty much figured out who this guy was. Besides that fellow, no one else had ever dared to treat her like this. Her eyes narrowed. This brat had gotten bold, hadn’t he? After not seeing him for a few years, he had grown some nerve, and now he even dared to scare her?

Before she could finish speaking, before she could even question him, his kiss came down. Dense and lingering, it brushed over her lips again and again, almost not giving her a chance to breathe.

Xu Linruan couldn’t help biting him. The young man hissed, reached for the switch, and the lights snapped on at once. The sudden brightness made it hard for Xu Linruan to keep her eyes open.

Taking advantage of that moment, the young man embraced her and backed up a few steps. One arm wrapped around her waist, the other caught her wrist. His long leg bent and slid between hers, then he pinned her beneath him, leaving her unable to move.

“I’m back. Are you happy?”

That gaze on her was scorching hot.

Xu Linruan lifted her chin slightly to look at the guy pinning her down.

His figure leaned over her, blocking most of the light. He looked down at her, his shirt rumpled, several buttons at the collar undone, revealing a somewhat sexy Adam’s apple and collarbones.

Tsk, her little one had grown up, huh?

Xu Linruan clicked her tongue inwardly, but outwardly she remained calm. “When did you get back?”

Qi Xiaoyue lowered his head and kissed her cheek again. “This afternoon.”

“So, you’re that tongyangfu[[1]]?” Xu Linruan settled into a comfortable position on the sofa and looked leisurely at the man before her. “Since you came all the way to the hospital, why didn’t you just wait there for me to come back?”

Qi Xiaoyue didn’t deny it. He stared at her for a while, his eyes dark and unreadable.

He had wanted to wait at the hospital too, but he was afraid of seeing some ugly scene. Afraid he wouldn’t be able to control himself. That was why he left early.

After a moment of silence, he slowly looked away. He still couldn’t bear to be harsh with her, and the force he had been using to restrain her gradually relaxed as well. “You went to eat with Xu Zhou.”

“So?”

So… are you going to leave me? Do you like another man? Are you really together with Xu Zhou?

In the end, he didn’t ask. He didn’t dare. If the answer really turned out that way, he knew he wouldn’t be able to handle it. He was afraid he wouldn’t be able to stop himself, really wouldn’t be able to stop himself, and in front of her he would do something terrible…

As soon as he said that, he grabbed her hand and tried to guide it downward. Xu Linruan rolled her eyes, wanting nothing more than to slap this guy to death.

“Behave yourself, Qi Xiaoyue.”

“No, no, your boyfriend missed you so much. Every day I thought about seeing you. Touch me, touch me, okay? I’m already an adult, doing this isn’t illegal, okay? Please, Ruannan?”

Xu Linruan rubbed her forehead in speechless exasperation. What on earth was in this guy’s head? After staying abroad for so long, was he still full of nothing but trash?

Qi Xiaoyue had no idea what his girlfriend was thinking. He was gnawing all over her neck like a mad thing, and since she hadn’t allowed him to do anything else, apart from taking a couple of bites he didn’t dare do anything more suggestive.

Xu Linruan disgustedly pushed him away, but in the process she caught sight of a deep scar on his chest, looking like a gunshot wound. She reached out and touched it, then looked up and asked, “Was this left behind after that shooting incident?”

It was very close to his heart. If it had been just a little deeper, he probably would have died. She didn’t know what exactly this guy had gone through, even though none of it had been in the plot.

Xu Linruan stroked the wound, wondering if she should give this guy some compensation.

Unexpectedly, the brat gave a muffled sound and grabbed her hand to press it against his butt, muttering, “That’s not it. The gunshot wound is on my butt. It hurt like hell back then, and I bled so much.”

“If you don’t believe me, touch it. Forget it, the clothes are too thick, you probably can’t feel it anyway. Want me to take my pants off and show you?”

Xu Linruan: “…”

Did he think she wouldn’t really slap him to death?

She pinched his butt hard. Qi Xiaoyue rested miserably against her chest, his tone pitiful. “Wifey, be gentler, okay?”

“Who’s your wifey?”

“You, of course. We agreed I’d take care of you when I got back, and now I’m back, so I can take care of you. Wifey, how about picking a nice day? When are you going to take me in?”

Seeing that she didn’t respond, he kept going. “How about tonight? I looked up a lot of information. This kind of thing is very simple. You just take your clothes off, lie on the bed, and then basically I’ll handle the rest. Okay, wifey?”

Her movements were very gentle. Her teeth lightly bit his lower lip, and Qi Xiaoyue widened his eyes at the beauty leaning in so close. He held his breath completely. His girlfriend’s eyelashes were long, thick and long, and especially when the light fell on them, it clearly revealed a small shadow beneath her eyes.

Qi Xiaoyue felt even worse. He struggled for quite a while and still couldn’t get his belt undone, so frustrated that his eyes turned red. Xu Linruan caught his somewhat restless hand. “What happened after you were injured? Why did you lose contact?”

“I was kidnapped,” he said lightly, then lowered his head and thought about how to get his wife’s buttons undone. Or not undone, just have them pop open on their own.

Earlier in the hospital, he had already seen a photo of his wife in a white coat. She looked cold and abstinent, and he got worked up instantly. He felt especially like tearing her shirt open and having a round of loving communication.

“Kidnapped?”

Qi Xiaoyue nodded. “Yeah, they locked me up. It seemed like some kind of militarized organization, and they even stole my phone. They wouldn’t let me leave, and if I didn’t listen, they beat me and whipped me with a little leather whip. It hurt like hell.”

Qi Xiaoyue seemed possessed as he reached out. Under his unremitting efforts, one button finally came off. He was a little happy, but when he looked up and saw his girlfriend’s stern face, he obediently lay still again.

Xu Linruan asked again, “Where did they hit you?”

“My back.”

Xu Linruan reached out to unbutton his shirt. “Show me.”

Qi Xiaoyue quickly pressed down on his girlfriend’s little hand. A flush of awkward red surfaced on his handsome face, and his eyes were watery and misty, putting on a full act. “No. It’s not pretty.”

“Really not going to let me see?” Her fingers were pressed against his abdomen, and she looked up at him. Her jet-black hair set off her exquisite collarbones, her red lips and fair skin. He felt like his girlfriend looked way too tempting like this, so tempting it was about to steal his soul.

How could he still have the courage to refuse? Hurry up and show her, show her. Whatever she wanted, he would give it to her!

So Qi Xiaoyue grunted a few times and, full of reluctance, climbed up off her. “Fine, but you’re not allowed to dislike it…”

Xu Linruan also sat up. She watched him take off his shirt, revealing several fairly obvious scars across his back. Her fingers brushed over them.

He was a little nervous. His body tightened, and he turned around and wrapped his arms around her waist before starting to act spoiled again. “You have to take responsibility for seeing a man’s body, Ruannan…”

Xu Linruan fell against his chest. To be fair, this guy looked pretty unreliable, but his physique was excellent, with a broad waist and narrow hips, and the muscles on his body were hard as rock, bumping her nose a little painfully.

“Then how do you want me to take responsibility?”

His eyes lit up as he looked at her eagerly. “Of course by sleeping with me. Or I can sleep with you?”

His girlfriend slapped a big hand over his face, covering those eyes that were itching to do something bad. “Dream on.”
