UD | Chapter 6 – Calling You Scum Feels Like a Compliment
by North_SkyIn everyone else’s eyes, Rong Leying was standing there looking at Rong Mingda.
Her clothes were wrinkled and disheveled.
Her beautiful face was filled with grievance.
Her eyes were red.
She looked exactly like a little girl who had been bullied outside and had come home seeking comfort from her parents.
Rong Mingda hadn’t seen the daughter he had with his ex-wife for many years.
Truthfully, he had never wanted to.
Every time he saw her face, he was reminded of his deceased wife.
First, seeing her brought back memories of the past.
Second, seeing her filled him with the shameful feeling that he had betrayed his late wife.
On top of that, his current wife had a strong personality and tolerated no imperfections.
When they first got together, he had concealed the fact that he already had a child.
His marriage was happy.
His dragon-phoenix twins were outstanding.
His business was thriving.
Life was perfect.
He didn’t want anyone disrupting that happiness.
For years, neither side had contacted the other.
He had assumed they would never cross paths again.
Until recently.
Something had gone wrong with the company.
Left with no choice, he had confessed to his wife that he had another daughter and brought Rong Leying home to “rebuild their relationship.”
The girl had been back for over a month.
Other than occasionally seeing each other during meals, they had barely interacted.
There was no father-daughter bond to speak of.
And after hearing various complaints from his wife about Rong Leying’s behavior at home, Rong Mingda had developed a deep dislike for the daughter his ex-wife had left behind.
Greedy.
Selfish.
A country girl with no manners or upbringing.
And now she hadn’t even come home for several days.
She wouldn’t answer calls either.
Who knew what kind of people she was running around with?
His dissatisfaction had reached its limit.
Before she entered the house, he had already planned a stern lecture for his ill-mannered eldest daughter.
Yet the moment he saw her reddened eyes…
Her pitiful, wronged expression…
She looked exactly like his late wife.
It was as if the woman who had already passed away was standing before him, silently condemning him for betraying their love and abandoning their child.
An inexplicable sense of guilt surfaced within him.
The harsh words that had reached his lips were swallowed back down.
He coughed awkwardly.
“You haven’t come home for days. Where have you been?”
“Do you know how worried Aunt Yan and your younger brother and sister have been?”
His words sounded like a reprimand.
Yet his tone wasn’t harsh at all.
Instead, there was obvious guilt hidden beneath it.
Having shared a bed with him for many years, Zhang Yan immediately noticed it.
He wasn’t angry at all.
Zhang Yan shot Rong Mingda an annoyed glance.
He was always like this.
The moment a woman looked pitiful, his heart softened.
Suppressing her irritation, she put on a practiced smile.
“Xiaoying, you’re back.”
“Come eat.”
“We’ve all been so worried about you these past few days.”
As she spoke—
Rong Leying watched the female ghost that had been lying motionless on Rong Mingda’s back suddenly change expression.
Her face twisted viciously.
She lunged toward Zhang Yan.
Opening a blood-soaked mouth wide enough to swallow a head, she bit down directly onto Zhang Yan’s skull.
The sight was horrifying.
Rong Leying shuddered violently.
Unfortunately, everyone else misunderstood her reaction.
To them—
She looked terrified of Zhang Yan.
Rong Mingda turned and looked at his wife suspiciously.
Zhang Yan’s smile stiffened.
Little green tea bitch!
For some reason, her scalp suddenly felt cold.
She instinctively reached up to touch her head.
Rong Leying watched as Zhang Yan’s hand passed directly through her mother’s ghostly head.
Goosebumps exploded across her body.
She immediately looked away.
She couldn’t bear to watch anymore.
But from everyone else’s perspective—
Zhang Yan had merely raised a hand.
And Rong Leying had immediately flinched and closed her eyes in fear.
As if she were afraid of being hit.
A dark, amused glint flashed through Rong Siyuan’s eyes.
So she finally slipped up.
Pretending to be above everything.
Acting indifferent.
And now she was putting on a pitiful act in front of their father, making it look like she was being bullied by her stepmother.
Interesting.
This would make things much more entertaining.
Meanwhile, Rong Sinan’s attention was elsewhere.
She noticed the bloodstains still covering Rong Leying’s clothes.
Immediately standing up, she hurried over.
“Big Sister, are you okay?”
“Why is there blood on your clothes?”
Her clear eyes were filled with genuine concern.
Not a trace of falsehood could be seen.
Among everyone in this household, this younger sister—two years younger than Rong Leying—was the only person who sincerely liked and accepted her.
Rong Leying shook her head softly.
“I’m fine.”
“It’s my grandfather’s blood.”
“He was in a car accident.”
“A car accident?!”
Rong Sinan’s face instantly turned pale.
“Is it serious?”
“What hospital is Grandpa in?”
“How is he now?”
Rong Mingda looked stunned.
“Xiaoying, didn’t your grandfather already leave the hospital and return home?”
Zhang Yan covered her mouth dramatically.
“Xiaoying, you shouldn’t joke about something like that.”
“Joke?”
Rong Mingda was immediately led astray.
His face darkened.
“Rong Leying!”
“That man raised you!”
“How can you joke about something like this?!”
Rong Siyuan tightened his grip around the cup in his hand.
A strange excitement flickered in his eyes.
Zhang Yan sighed sorrowfully.
“Xiaoying, even if you want your father’s attention—”
“I’M JOKING YOUR GRANDPA!”
Rong Leying exploded.
The emotions she had suppressed for days finally burst free.
“You people have read too many brain-dead novels!”
“Using my grandfather’s life to gain Rong Mingda’s attention?”
“His fatherly love isn’t even worth what stray dogs leave behind!”
“If your brains don’t work, donate them!”
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Everyone stared at her with wide eyes.
No one had expected such a violent outburst.
Clack.
The cup slipped from Rong Siyuan’s hand and landed on the table.
Rong Sinan jumped in fright and retreated two steps.
Even the female ghost hanging onto Zhang Yan raised her head in surprise and looked toward Rong Leying.
Fueled by anger, Rong Leying instinctively looked back.
The moment their eyes met—
The grievance in her heart multiplied endlessly.
She wanted to cry.
The female ghost looked stunned.
She can see me?
Rong Mingda pointed at himself in disbelief.
“Rong Leying!”
“You actually dared to curse at me?!”
She actually dared!
Endure it and you’ll get breast hyperplasia.
Take a step back and you’ll get ovarian cysts.
She was already planning to leave this disgusting place.
Why the hell should she keep enduring it?
“So what if I cursed you?!”
“You ungrateful, cold-blooded, heartless scumbag!”
“You abandoned the father who raised you!”
“You abandoned your own young daughter!”
“Your wife’s body wasn’t even cold before you remarried and had another family!”
“A person like you—”
“Calling you scum feels like a compliment!”
Rong Mingda had never been cursed like this in his entire life.
His face alternated between red and white.
His finger trembled as he pointed at her.
“Y-You—”
“Why are you shaking?”
“Got Parkinson’s at such a young age?”
Rong Mingda: !!!
Even though she enjoyed seeing Rong Leying clash with Rong Mingda, Zhang Yan couldn’t stay silent.
After all, that was still her husband.
“Xiaoying, how can you speak to your father like that?”
“Oh right.”
“I almost forgot about you.”
“You two-faced, backstabbing green tea bitch.”
“Talking about jokes?”
“My grandfather’s car accident was either your doing or your rotten son’s.”
Rong Leying switched to indiscriminate fire.
“You failed to kill me, so you targeted my grandfather instead.”
“One murderer.”
“One ungrateful scumbag.”
“You two are a perfect match!”
Even after saying all that, she still wasn’t satisfied.
Without warning, she strode forward and flipped the entire dining table.
Crash!
“AHHH!”
