Chapter 7 – Man, You’re Playing With Fire

Yan Dun quickly tried to organize his chaotic thoughts and asked:

“So this is actually the world of a fanfiction? Is that why President Hua, who originally deeply loved Mary Sue, suddenly ‘turned gay’?”

Customer Service replied:

“We’re not completely sure yet, Customer~ But that possibility is very high. You’re so smart, Dear Customer~”

Yan Dun frowned.

“How can you not be sure? Don’t you people have world background files, scripts, and character setting collections?”

Previously, whenever Yan Dun asked about information related to this world, the system and Customer Service had always been able to provide huge amounts of detail. The reason was that the system stored the complete setting collection for this world and could answer his questions anytime.

So Yan Dun had gotten used to casually mentioning a name and having the system or Customer Service immediately launch into a detailed explanation of the character’s background.

But now they were suddenly saying they “weren’t sure”?

Customer Service explained:

“Well, Customer~ We only have the setting collection for the original novel The Domineering CEO Falls in Love With Me. We don’t have any stored information for the fanfiction I Slapped the Mary Sue’s Face Swollen.”

Yan Dun panicked.

“You don’t have it stored? Then why don’t you hurry up and get it? Aren’t you connected to the internet? Can’t you download it?”

Customer Service replied:

“Well, Customer~ The fanfiction was taken down for explicit sexual content, so we can’t download it anymore~”

Yan Dun’s vision went black.

“So I transmigrated into a pornographic BL fanfiction as the bottom protagonist?!”

Customer Service quickly reassured him:

“Please don’t worry too much, Customer~ This fanfiction mostly follows the original settings of The Domineering CEO Falls in Love With Me. The overall framework is still basically the same, so you can safely continue using the setting collection we provided~”

Yan Dun nearly exploded.

“How am I supposed to feel safe?! Fanfiction authors can make characters go wildly out-of-character!”

Customer Service patiently answered:

“Well, Dear Customer~ You’ve already experienced our services for quite some time since transmigrating, haven’t you? During that period, there haven’t really been any major contradictions with our setting collection, right? Overall, this world still mostly follows the original novel’s settings, doesn’t it?”

Yan Dun thought about it for a moment and silently nodded.

That was true.

He’d been here for two months already and had been acting entirely according to the settings provided by the system. Nothing had contradicted them except…

“Hua Daimao’s sexuality!” Yan Dun protested. “In the original novel, Hua Daimao wasn’t gay!”

Customer Service nodded enthusiastically.

“Yes yes, Customer, you’re right. In the original novel world, Hua Daimao wasn’t gay. But in the fanfiction, he became gay. Isn’t that actually more convenient for your mission?”

Those words instantly reminded Yan Dun of a horrifying reality.

His scalp practically exploded.

“So now I’m the one who has to romance all these domineering CEOs?!”

“Yes, Dear Customer~ Exactly right~! You’re so smart, Customer~”

Yan Dun felt like he was going insane.

“So I have to steal Mary Sue’s role and become some universally adored bottom protagonist?”

Yan Dun’s very first reaction upon learning “the truth” was absolute rejection.

What universally adored protagonist?

What Mary Sue?

He didn’t care about any of that at all, okay?

He absolutely did not want to get tangled up in dramatic love-hate relationships with several emotionally unstable domineering CEOs!

Sure, Yan Dun was gay.

But he was also a gay man with principles!

There was no way he could simultaneously romance multiple men!

Helplessly, he asked:

“Can I refuse?”

Customer Service answered sweetly:

“Of course, Dear Customer~ Failing the mission just means death, that’s all~!”

Just means death?!

Since when could “death” be paired with “that’s all,” and even topped off with a cheerful “~”?

Only then did Yan Dun remember his situation.

He was already halfway into the grave. If he wanted to survive and revive, he had to rely on this incredibly unreliable transmigration mission.

Faced with life and death, he really didn’t have much room to choose.

Still, as an experienced working adult, he decided to fight for as many benefits as possible.

Customer Service immediately panicked.

As expected, customer service workers everywhere are terrified of complaints.

“What kind of compensation?”

“Please wait a moment, Customer~”

One minute later.

“So, Customer~ What you don’t want is the task of romancing several men, correct?”

“Correct.”

“Well then, Customer~ The overall storyline framework of a domineering CEO novel still needs to be preserved. How about this: as long as you trigger the key plot points and collect enough domineering CEO lines, we’ll count it as mission completion. You won’t need to raise the CEOs’ affection levels. What do you think?”

Yan Dun blinked.

“So I only need to follow the plot and collect famous CEO lines? I don’t need to gain affection points?”

Customer Service launched into an over-the-top sales pitch, making it sound like this was an incredible special offer.

What Yan Dun didn’t realize was that, thanks to his “bottom protagonist halo,” as long as he followed the plot and triggered the lines, seducing the CEOs would happen naturally anyway.

“Yes, exactly like that. You don’t need to actively romance anyone. Actually, you’ve already successfully triggered several plot points.”

“You mean all the wine-spilling and coffee-spilling incidents?”

“Yes yes~ Exactly, Customer. If affection levels don’t matter, then it’s actually not very difficult, right?”

Yan Dun thought about it.

That was true.

Spilling coffee on people and trying to gain their affection at the same time would be difficult.

But simply spilling coffee on people?

That part really wasn’t hard.

Feeling somewhat reassured, Yan Dun opened the newly added mission tab in the system and looked through the required lines.

An idea immediately formed in his mind.

The next day at work, Yan Dun deliberately walked up to An Chi and started wildly waving a lighter around in front of him.

Yan Dun swiped his hand through the lighter flame several times and asked:

“What do you think I’m doing?”

An Chi frowned.

“You’re playing with fire.”

Yan Dun instantly opened the mission tab and happily saw a new line appear:
