MSISAS |Chapter 15: Huaball Reforms
by lostnexusThe next day, at the headquarters of Huaball.
“This is Xu Qing, who will be taking on the role of CEO.”
Xu Qing nodded slightly. The people below were all old directors who had followed her father.
She had occasionally returned during her university years to adapt, so she was familiar with most of them, and naturally, there were no objections now.
However, there was one newcomer, Director Chen.
Director Chen looked at this newly appointed young president with disdain. “Can this little brat take on such a big responsibility? Is Huaball out of people? We might as well hire an acting CEO.”
Xu Qing showed no expression. She knew she had never completed any major profitable projects for the company, and she couldn’t guarantee she could lead Huaball to the next level.
The directors listened and discussed among themselves. Xu Qing said, “I know I haven’t brought significant profits to the company yet, but being young doesn’t mean lacking capability. I ask everyone to give this young person a chance, three months! Give me three months.”
“I will demonstrate my ability to everyone. If you are not satisfied, three months from now, I will hold a voting assembly to elect a director to serve as CEO.”
Hearing this, the directors fell silent. “Then we’ll give you this chance.”
Three months is neither short nor long.
Xu’s father was satisfied and wheeled out. The man sitting in the wheelchair had a pale complexion, revealing an unhealthy coloring, but his handsome appearance seemed undeterred by the passage of time.
Xu Qing sat in the top-floor CEO office. She knew this day would come eventually, and she had long been prepared.
It was time to fight a battle and to take a moment of calm.
Xu Qing dressed formally, different from her usual style. This time, her face no longer carried the gentle smile she had when facing Lu Xianzhi, only sharpness remained.
Many employees took the chance to observe Xu Qing as she went downstairs, “Hello, President Xu.” Xu Qing nodded slightly.
This young CEO was not as they had imagined. Instead, she was very serious, even a bit intimidating. Her presence was somewhat like Xu’s father in the past.
The first thing Xu Qing addressed was the secretarial team. Due to her father’s rare management, the secretaries were inefficient and essentially just going through the motions.
“All dismissed. I will select the next team of secretaries.”
Immediately, a tense atmosphere enveloped Huaball, and company employees were on high alert.
“Xu Qiming really left us in a mess like this, so ready to head to Jiangnan?”
Xu Qing looked at the latest project proposal. This proposal had been made by Xu Qiming before his retirement. With Xu Qiming’s temperament, he would have directly signed off, but nobody expected Xu Qing to suddenly take office.
“Redo this, unless they intend to not earn but instead lose money.”
The secretaries were also highly efficient, immediately passing the information to the planning department.
Xu Qing looked at the reports, her face outwardly calm, but the head of the finance department stood there trembling, his sweat nearly dripping down.
“Sit.”
Xu Qing gave him a slight nod, and the finance head nervously took a seat opposite her.
A pair of eyes stared directly at Xu Qing. In fact, he shouldn’t be afraid. The finance department had always processed things transparently.
Xu Qing flipped through to the end, “No issues.”
It wasn’t that bad after all.
“Then I’ll take my leave, President Xu.”
“Mm.”
After stepping out, he almost tripped, being so tense. That atmosphere and President Xu’s presence were even more intense than Xu Qiming in his youth. It seems Huaball is poised for a change.
But as an employee looking forward to Huaball’s further success, this was an exceptionally good thing.
In fact, Xu Qiming had gradually become less involved in affairs. The seemingly flourishing Huaball was already on the brink of collapse.
Xu Qing went to the personnel department, explaining the personnel standards in detail and posting a copy on the departmental door.
As soon as someone entered the personnel department, they could see it, greatly raising efficiency by screening out unsuitable candidates before they even stepped in.
With evaluation periods approaching, the company gradually began to return to normal operations.
In recent days, there was a major internal overhaul at Huaball.
Many board members had already observed the changes at Huaball; this young person was worth looking forward to.
They had followed Xu’s father, building Huaball step by step, and couldn’t bear to see it fall.
The planning department had many proposals rejected, and the latest round of major company projects was undergoing re-planning, personally supervised by Xu Qing.
“After all, if they don’t meet the standard and don’t improve, the company won’t shelter slackers either!”
The planning department members were serious, “Yes!” No one wanted to lose their job, especially since they were all university graduates.
At first, everyone actively sought change, but repeated dissatisfaction greatly diminished their confidence.
The planning department buried itself in work these days. Among Huaball’s departments, if you ask which is doing badly, the planning department is the one to see.
Xu Qing’s expression was so dark it could make ink, “I really thought these top graduates could come up with something novel. It’s all the same old routines.”
“Seems like changing mindsets isn’t enough, technically…”
The secretaries also noticed Xu Qing’s approach. They knew that President Xu used to be a doctor, and though they watched the romance show, at first they thought she was just for show. They didn’t expect her methods to be so ruthless.
“President Xu.”
“Yes, push the afternoon meeting to the evening, this afternoon we will visit the planning department.”
“Understood.”
Xu Qing felt somewhat satisfied; at least she didn’t have useless people by her side.
Xu Qing had been working under immense pressure for almost half a month. This quarter’s new company projects had yet to be advanced; the planning department was always problematic.
Unwilling to innovate, they only knew the old routines for safety.
Safety was not Xu Qing’s nature.
It’s time for Huaball to try new fields.
Xu Qing’s face was filled with worry that couldn’t disappear. A tech company should be at the forefront; only innovation could be the lifeline for tech companies, and as the leading tech company in Country Z, Huaball had to pave the way forward.
Xu Qing took a short nap and then headed directly to the planning department in the afternoon.
The company staff had secretly nicknamed Xu Qing “Xu Demon King,” a symbol of terror.
Under Xu Qing’s guidance, the planning department gradually broke through its common sense and understood what they should do.
The planning department regained its momentum.
In the evening, Xu Qing opened her laptop as usual to conduct a new round of planning with the overseas branches.
She also made her requirements clear, stating that she would review the results in three months and return for inspection.
Now, the pressure was on the overseas branches.
Xu Qing was truly terrifying; in a month, she had brought the previously lax Huaball back to the level of morale it had in its heyday.
Finally, after a month of revisions, the project plan was approved.
There were cheers in the planning department; it wasn’t for nothing that they had meetings day and night revising it.
Xu Qing wasn’t an emotionless machine, though she was a production machine.
News of doubled bonuses for the planning department spread throughout Huaball; they realized that this newly appointed President Xu was not only capable and skillful but also had compassion.
So, all of Huaball’s departments worked with renewed vigor, and genuine respect for Xu Qing emerged from the bottom of their hearts.
Including the branches, they were responsible for marketing products overseas and improved them using advanced foreign materials.
Seeing the new round of project plans and product descriptions, they all realized that Huaball might be at a turning point.
