MSISAS |Chapter 12: The Mischievous Lu Xianzhi
by lostnexusIt wasn’t until nearly six in the evening that Xu Qing got off the operating table. She picked up her phone as soon as she entered the office.
Seeing the familiar interface, “Xu Qing! Barbecue! Barbecue!”
The message was sent five hours ago. It seems she figured it out not long after leaving. Truly a little piggy.
When Xu Qing drove to Green Forest Court, it was already close to seven.
“She must be starving.”
Xu Qing called Lu Xianzhi, and the call connected in no time, as if she had been waiting by the phone.
“How could you call only now! I’m practically starving!”
“Come down, I’ll take you for barbecue.”
“Okay, I’m coming down right now!”
Sure enough, food was the motivation. Lu Xianzhi came down in just a few minutes.
Xu Qing opened the door for Lu Xianzhi and then got back in and started the car.
“Look, a small cake, have a bite before the meal.”
“Not bad, quite considerate. Fine, I’ll forgive you this time!”
Xu Qing smiled, and Lu Xianzhi noticed just as she turned her head.
Xu Qing had a pair of dimples that became particularly noticeable when she smiled, and Lu Xianzhi couldn’t help but stare.
“What, I know I’m good-looking, but isn’t that a bit much?”
“Shameless!” Though, she really was quite good-looking.
“Yeah, I’m shameless. Wipe your drool.”
Hearing this, Lu Xianzhi actually wiped her mouth. “There’s nothing there!”
“But you wiped it, didn’t you? You thought there was something there? Hahaha.”
Xu Qing’s slightly mocking voice echoed, and Lu Xianzhi’s face turned a bit red, “You… you’re too much!”
“Silly.”
Lu Xianzhi couldn’t be bothered with her.
Finally, they arrived at the barbecue restaurant. Lu Xianzhi couldn’t wait to pick up the menu, pointing at one thing after another.
“It’s not really about the money, but can your little stomach handle it?”
“Who can’t handle it! I was downing three bottles of milk before you were even born!”
“Well, don’t start whining that you can’t finish it.”
“Who’s whining to you!”
“Me, I’m whining to you.” Xu Qing’s tone had a hint of indulgence.
Lu Xianzhi felt something was off. Why did it feel like there were pink bubbles everywhere?
Was it her imagination or was something really off?
Never mind, eating meat was more important.
The restaurant served very quickly, and Lu Xianzhi picked up the tongs to start grilling.
The meat sizzled as it released oil, and Lu Xianzhi also liked the onions lining the bottom; they were very fragrant.
Xu Qing watched as Lu Xianzhi’s eyes remained glued to the meat, as if radiating a unique respect only a foodie has for food.
Xu Qing kept serving Lu Xianzhi while she herself hardly ate a thing. Lu Xianzhi’s fair cheeks were warmed and glowing red from the charcoal fire.
She looked like a baby.
Lu Xianzhi: “You should eat too! If you don’t eat, I definitely can’t finish!”
“Okay.”
“Do you not really like this food?”
“No.” Actually, yes.
Lu Xianzhi watched as Xu Qing struggled to swallow a piece of meat. Even though Xu Qing maintained a neutral expression, Lu Xianzhi could clearly see that Xu Qing looked like she was eating something unpleasant.
“If you don’t want to eat it, then don’t. What do you like to eat?”
Xu Qing looked deeply at Lu Xianzhi, “I don’t like greasy food.”
“See if there’s something else you like on the menu.”
“This one, fried rice.”
“Only you would come to a barbecue place and order fried rice!”
“Yeah.”
Lu Xianzhi looked at Xu Qing’s handsome face, and noticed her well-defined jawline.
“No wonder you’re so thin.”
“?” Xu Qing looked at her in confusion.
“Nothing. Just keep grilling! You’re not eating anyway.”
“Alright.”
Xu Qing ended up finishing the fried rice, but there were still several plates of barbecue left.
Lu Xianzhi cradled her already full belly, “I’m pregnant, Xu Qing. I’m pregnant with barbecue babies.”
“Can you still eat more?”
“Uh…”
“I knew it.” Xu Qing rubbed her forehead in exasperation.
“Hee hee, who would’ve thought you wouldn’t eat.”
“Yeah, my bad.”
“Then let’s sit for a while and digest?”
“Sure!”
By nine o’clock, Lu Xianzhi had resumed grilling the meat, bringing evening dinner and a late-night snack together.
“Xu Qing! Do you like drinking alcohol?”
“Yes, why?” Xu Qing liked drinking alcohol, had liked it since she was young, though she wasn’t sure why. Maybe it was her mother who cultivated her taste for it.
“How many drinks before you get drunk?”
“I don’t know.” Actually, she had never been drunk.
“I’m quite impressive! I bet you’ll be knocked out by me today!”
“Oh?” Xu Qing looked at Lu Xianzhi with an appraising gaze.
“Don’t look down on me!”
“Yeah, I’m really looking forward to it.”
Lu Xianzhi was in high spirits and wanted to prove herself. She remembered never having been drunk!
Xu Qing sipped her beer slowly.
Lu Xianzhi glanced over, “What are you doing! That’s no fun! This isn’t red wine! Beer should be downed in one go!”
Xu Qing looked at her.
Lu Xianzhi: “Come on! Cheers!”
Xu Qing smiled grudgingly and clinked glasses with her.
“Cheers.”
Who would have thought Lu Xianzhi would be down after just one glass, despite claiming she had never been drunk.
So she didn’t remember how many drinks it took to knock her out.
Xu Qing’s brows twitched as she felt a headache coming on.
“Such a little troublemaker.”
Lu Xianzhi came over, her steps slightly unsteady.
“Hey! Isn’t this my brother Xu!”
“Long time no see! So pathetic now! Only your gege Lu stands by you through thick and thin! Today, let’s swear brotherhood!”
Xu Qing looked at Lu Xianzhi, who appeared completely drunk, and sighed.
Next time, she definitely wouldn’t let her drink.
“Hey! Brother Xu, why are you ignoring me! Have you got yourself another brother outside! Look at you! You’ve found yourself another dog!”
“Speak! Have you found another dog!”
Xu Qing was forced to confront the drunk Lu Xianzhi face to face as she leaned on Xu Qing’s shoulder with her forehead pressed against Xu Qing’s.
Xu Qing felt a momentary panic.
“Why aren’t you saying anything!”
Lu Xianzhi then tilted Xu Qing’s chin up.
“If you don’t speak, it means you have a dog! With you treating me so well, could it be others are enjoying the same treatment!”
Xu Qing looked at her in distress, refusing to bicker with a drunk.
Lu Xianzhi moved away, singing, “A rabbit pulls a carrot, pulls a carrot, can’t pull it out, la la la…”
Xu Qing quickly grabbed the drunkard, afraid she might fall.
Lu Xianzhi resisted, struggling in Xu Qing’s arms for a long time before giving up, letting Xu Qing hold her.
On the street, Lu Xianzhi saw a trash can. She unexpectedly broke free from Xu Qing’s hold, which Xu Qing didn’t know she had the strength for.
Lu Xianzhi went up and hugged the trash can, sobbing, “Do you know? Xu Qing has a dog now! I’m no longer her favorite dog! Waaaah!”
Hearing this gave Xu Qing a headache. What a little troublemaker.
Xu Qing went up to pull her away. “What are you doing! This is my new brother! Go and find your dog instead! I want to be with my brother!”
Xu Qing tugged at her for a while, and seeing she couldn’t move her, bent down and picked Lu Xianzhi up horizontally.
“I’m really afraid of you, little ancestor.”
——————–
Have any of you ever gotten drunk? When I get drunk, I just feel foggy-headed and then go right to sleep. How about you?
