    He Tang was momentarily stunned.

She looked up at the few people standing before her. Directly across from her stood a handsome young man, while her own hands were raised, holding out a pink letter to him.

The area was packed with students watching the spectacle, their excited chatter filling the air.

What was going on? Where was she? Hadn’t she just gone out to celebrate receiving her acceptance letter from Tsinghua University?

She remembered a car suddenly veering onto the sidewalk and charging straight toward her. Then… She ended up here.

As the thought crossed her mind, a flood of memories surged into her head—bankruptcy, a cannon-fodder supporting character, a confession… The overwhelming stream of memories instantly made her understand her current situation.

She had become a cannon-fodder supporting character in this world. Her parents had just gone bankrupt, and at this very moment, under the instigation of a group of scheming people, she was publicly confessing to the male lead, Gu Jingfeng, in front of the entire school. After being rejected, she would continue to be manipulated and provoked by those same people, eventually becoming the public enemy of every female student and being ostracized throughout the school.

Later, her younger brother would develop a gambling addiction, go down the wrong path, and die in an accident. Her parents, unable to withstand the blow, would perish in a car crash. Crushed beneath all of it, the original He Tang would ultimately jump from a building and end her life.

After sorting through her memories, He Tang narrowed her eyes and swept her gaze over the people in front of her and the crowd gathered around them.

Given the current situation, she must be in the middle of a passionate confession to the male lead, right? How did the original confess? Oh, she just said “I like you,” she didn’t name anyone specifically.

The corner of her mouth curled into a smile. She looked up at the man standing beside the young male lead. Tall and strikingly handsome, he carried a cold, imposing presence. He was probably close to 1.9 meters tall.

    Not bad.

Turning the letter in her hand, He Tang held it out directly to him and stuffed it into his hand. Meeting his deep, dark eyes, she said casually, “It’s for you. Take it. No need to thank me.”

With that, without waiting for a reply, and under the shocked gazes of everyone present, she walked straight past them and headed towards the school building.

The surrounding crowd instantly erupted into louder discussion. In their excitement, many forgot to keep their voices down.

“What’s going on? Didn’t the forum say He Tang was going to confess to Gu Jingfeng today? Why did she give it to someone else?”

“Exactly! Who’s that guy? Didn’t He Tang always like Gu Jingfeng? What’s she trying to pull?”

“She must’ve realized she’s not good enough for him. Her, liking Gu Jingfeng? Does she even deserve to?”

“But that guy is really handsome. Did He Tang change her crush, or did she never like Gu Jingfeng in the first place?”

He Tang had barely taken a few steps when two girls with unfriendly expressions stepped in front of her, blocking her path.

“He Tang, what’s wrong with you?! Weren’t you supposed to confess to Gu Jingfeng? What’s the meaning of this?” A girl in a blue dress pointed her finger right at He Tang’s nose, gritting her teeth.

He Tang’s gaze sharpened. With a sharp smack, she forcefully knocked Blue Dress’s hand away. Red marks instantly appeared on Blue Dress’s hand. Blue Dress’s face twisted with anger. She reached out and grabbed He Tang’s clothes. “He Tang, how dare you hit me!”

“So what if I hit you? I’m teaching you some manners.” He Tang grabbed Blue Dress’s wrist and bent it back cleanly and decisively. Blue Dress immediately yelped in pain, letting go and clutching her own wrist.

“He Tang, don’t be like this. Didn’t we agree? We came with you to support your confession. We’re just worried about you. You obviously like Gu Jingfeng, so why did you give your love letter to someone else?” Another girl in a white dress came over with a smile and held He Tang’s hand, putting on a very innocent and kind look.

He Tang let out a light laugh. These two were the very people who had manipulated the original He Tang time and time again, contributing more than anyone else to her eventual ostracism.

“Who said I like Gu Jingfeng and was going to confess to him? Did you say that?” He Tang looked at her with amusement.

White Dress froze for a second before forcing an awkward smile. “Of course not. Didn’t you say it yourself? Weren’t you writing that love letter for him?”

“No, I wasn’t. I fell for that guy at first sight. Is that not allowed?” She lied without the slightest trace of guilt.

“No way! He Tang! You have to confess to Gu Jingfeng today!” Blue Dress was furious. She had made bets with other people, and now that He Tang had confessed to someone else, where would she save face?

“What? Since when do I need your permission to decide who I confess to?” He Tang stood in front of Blue Dress with an amused look, reached out, and patted her cheek. Her tone was dismissive as she enunciated each word: “Who do you think you are?”

“You!” Blue Dress trembled with rage, but when she met He Tang’s gaze, she forcibly swallowed the curses that were on the tip of her tongue.

No, something was wrong with He Tang’s eyes. It was as if she saw right through them. No, something was definitely off!

He Tang looked at the girl’s face in front of her, cycling through shades of pale and green, and found her too weak and rather boring. She straightened up and calmly made her way to her classroom, following the memories and plot details she had pieced together from the book.

Right now, the most important thing was to figure out her situation.

As soon as He Tang left, the surrounding area erupted in noise. Everyone began discussing freely and without restraint.

Gu Jingfeng glanced indifferently at He Tang’s retreating figure, then turned to the man beside him and said, “Cousin, just throw away the letter. Sorry for making a spectacle in front of you.”

But his cousin, Pei Yubai, smiled and glanced at the envelope in his hand. “Why would I throw it away?”

Gu Jingfeng froze for a moment before explaining, “She was actually confessing to me. I’ve hinted before that I’m not interested in her. I don’t know what she’s trying to pull today.”

Pei Yubai looked at He Tang’s retreating figure, then back at Gu Jingfeng, and said calmly, “Didn’t she say she fell for me at first sight?” With that, he slipped the letter into his pocket.

    Gu Jingfeng: “???”

Wasn’t his cousin usually the last person willing to get involved with girls?

Meanwhile, He Tang returned to the classroom, found her seat by the window, and under the burning gazes of the remaining classmates, calmly sat down.

As she sorted through the flood of memories and plot information in her mind, she gradually gained a clearer understanding of her situation.

She was 17 years old, just starting her senior year of high school, ranked last in the grade. Her family had recently gone bankrupt, and even after liquidating their assets, they were still burdened with twenty million yuan in debt. To escape their creditors, her parents had fled overnight, taking only the child they treasured most—her younger brother.

They had left her behind, alone in the city.

Fortunately, the original He Tang’s grandfather had some ties with the Pei family. Worried that debt collectors might come after her, the Pei’s took her in out of kindness and gave her a place to stay.

Rubbing her temples, He Tang still found it hard to believe she had transmigrated into a novel. She had only just received her acceptance letter from Tsinghua University. After years of hard work, she had finally escaped the misery of high school and was about to embrace the freedom of college life. And now? She was back in her senior year, burdened with a mountain of problems. Life really wasn’t fair.

Fragments of memory continued to surface in her mind. The more they came, the heavier her head felt. Eventually, unable to stay awake any longer, she rested her head on her desk and drifted off to sleep.

The classmates sitting nearby saw her lying on the desk and assumed she was crying, just like before, because her confession had been rejected. They quickly took a photo and posted it on the school forum.

[Breaking] He Tang’s Confession Rejected, Crying Bitterly in Classroom!

[Comment] Rejected? I heard she didn’t confess to Gu Jingfeng. What’s the real story?

[Comment] Seems like she confessed to Gu Jingfeng’s cousin. So shameless. Can’t get Gu Jingfeng, so she goes after his cousin!

[Comment] Gu Jingfeng’s cousin? Who’s that? Does he go to our school?

[Comment] No, he graduated years ago. You’ve heard of the Pei family, right? It’s Pei Yubai, the Pei family’s only son. He didn’t take over the family business, though. He started his own company instead. Fengjian Technology—the famous one—was founded by him.

[Comment] He Tang is way too shameless! Just because her family went bankrupt, she’s trying to latch onto someone with status?

[Comment] But to be honest, He Tang seemed a bit off today. Lin Min and Xia Lian looked like she hit them.

[Comment] He Tang hit Lin Min and Xia Lian? No way, you must have seen wrong! Wasn’t she their little sidekick? Usually such a coward and a pushover, hahaha.

[Comment] I’m not joking, she really did hit them. Lin Min’s face turned green from anger, but she also lost all her dignity.

[Comment] Wait, can someone tell me? Did He Tang succeed in her confession or not?

[Comment] No, she didn’t. He Tang didn’t even wait for a reply before she left. Pretty confusing.

[Comment] ??? What was she even thinking?

The forum post about He Tang’s confession instantly shot up like a skyscraper. The entire school was discussing the incident.

Several older posts from the previous day were also pushed back to the top. Those were posts by Lin Min and Xia Lian, claiming that He Tang was going to confess to Gu Jingfeng today and calling on the whole school to come watch.

Reading the comments and ridicule flooding the forum, Lin Min and Xia Lian were so furious they nearly ground their teeth to pieces.

He Tang had actually made them lose all face! There was no way they were letting this go!

Suppressing their anger, the two put on the smug expressions they usually wore and headed toward Grade 12 Class 5.

As soon as they entered, they saw He Tang lying on her desk.

The two exchanged a knowing look. Lin Min took the seat beside He Tang, while Xia Lian sat directly behind her.

As the bell finished ringing, the classmate sitting in front of He Tang was about to wake her when Lin Min quickly stopped her.

“Tangtang is very upset today. Let her sleep.”

The classmate in the front row gave an awkward smile, cast a sympathetic glance at He Tang, and turned around to wait for class to start.

A pot-bellied physics teacher walked into the classroom and started reviewing the test papers that had been handed out the day before.

Lin Min noticed that the physics teacher hadn’t spotted He Tang sleeping. Growing anxious, she lifted her test paper to cover her face and deliberately coughed a few times.

As expected, the physics teacher looked over. Unfortunately for her, He Tang was hidden behind a towering stack of books, so he still didn’t notice.

Lin Min gritted her teeth, knocked half of the books off He Tang’s desk, and coughed heavily once more.

This time, not only did the physics teacher look over, but the entire class turned their heads in confusion.

And there, in plain sight, was He Tang, sound asleep.

The physics teacher hated it most when students slept in class, especially those with poor grades. Without a second thought, he threw a piece of chalk that landed right on top of He Tang’s head.

“He Tang! Answer question number four!”

Lin Min curled her lips, elbowed He Tang to nudge her, and feigned kindness, saying, “Tangtang, the teacher is calling on you.”

The chaotic flood of memories in her mind was finally interrupted. He Tang slowly opened her eyes and looked at Lin Min through half-lidded eyes.

“He Tang! You’re still sleeping! Do you think this is your home? Your grades are already terrible, yet you still refuse to work hard! Where’s your test paper?”

The physics teacher stormed down from the podium, walked to He Tang’s row, and saw at a glance that her desk was completely empty.

“Where is your paper! Take it out and let me see it!” The teacher was furious.

He Tang lowered her eyes and glanced at the test paper on Lin Min’s desk, found the same one from her own folder, and saw that it was completely blank.

The physics teacher reached out his hand directly, stretching past three classmates, demanding the paper. He Tang hesitated for a moment, then saw Lin Min grabbing her paper, trying to hand it to the teacher.

He Tang pinched Lin Min’s hand that was already tugging at her paper, hard enough to make her yelp and pull back in pain. Then she spoke up: “Teacher, which question did you ask?”

The physics teacher was livid. “Question four! If you weren’t sleeping, you wouldn’t need to ask which question—”

“The answer is C,” He Tang replied calmly.
